The Power of Positive Thinking

Posted in ABOUT SUPERANJ, MY RANDOM THOUGHTS with tags , , , , , , , , , , on November 14, 2012 by nursemihoko

Before I will turn off the light tonight, I would like to share my random thoughts I have on my mind right now. It’s like I was at the same boat a year ago while I was having my review for my NLE.  The feeling of being nervous about what will be the result and the thought that scares the hell out of me. Well, I thank myself for being an optimistic person… but sometimes, I also feel weak and down, worried and scared. What gives me hope and strength to do the best that I can is my supportive family.  I know I can make it. I trust myself and God, together we can make it. ❤

I can get over these  big mountains of difficulties by thinking over them. . IT IS ALL IN THE MIND !

On December 2, Bring it ON! And after that day, I will be a certified TOEFL PASSER! 🙂 Be Positive!!! 🙂

good night Philippines :*

THE BIG DAY: NLE DAYS 2011 (day 1 & 2)

Posted in Nursing Adventure with tags , , , , , , , , on October 29, 2012 by nursemihoko

DECEMBER 18-19, 2011

CALENDAR MARKED.

But let me share to you the happenings the night before that red marked days.

Our clinical instructors  and review center coordinators joined their hands in cheering us that we can make it to the top and pass the exam. As I rewind my memory box, I remember that somehow, they gave us inspirations and encouragements that we can all make it.

They prepared some delicious foods for us that  really made our tummies full… They helped us forget the pressure and worries we had that night .. haha. They (teachers and some classmates who passed the exam already -the july takers) gave their tips and some encouragements while we  were having our group dinner.

Going back to those days,

.

.

.

Two days before the big day.. we were allowed to open the laptop and any gadgets to relax our mind and body. But I decided that time to open the internet and search for some tips to obtain the “RN” thing 😉

According to Maria Kristina Siuagan’s article, she said that  board exam is not an easy thing to get through, passing it will be a great accomplishment! If you are nervous, don’t frettake a look at some of her B.O.A.R.D. E.X.A.M. tips that you might want to try.

B-oard is BROAD

The Nurse Licensure Examination (NLE) is not the typical exam that youtook during college. It’s more like taking an exam of all the things you studied in the BSN program. Unlike your usual departmentalized exams, wherein the ranges of topics are most often predictable, the NLE may contain even the rarest of topics you least expect to encounter. It would be helpful to take note of the topics you haven’t encountered yet, so that you won’t end up leaving them out of your study prep. There is a very small distinction between the topics that you ‘know’ and the ones you are ‘familiar’ with, with the latter requiring a bit more focus to master. Of course, even if you already have the list of the topics that you already ‘know’, it is still very beneficial to allot some time to read or master them once again.

O-verconfidence

It is unhealthy to be ashamed of one’s abilities. However, you shouldn’t be too confident that you can do everything. You have to recognize that you too have your own weaknesses and that you might need the assistance of other people. Don’t hesitate to raise your concerns. Consult some RNs you know, your previous professors (if they are amenable to that) or your review instructors. They can provide you much enlightenment on those topics that you find vague or difficult.

A-mplify!

Amplify everything in you—friends and family ties, faith in the Almighty, and your will power. Fortification of these can further help you endure all the challenges you might encounter along the way.

R-eadiness

Having been able to prepare your list of review topics and resource materials, you are on your way to proceed with your review per se. Attending classes in review centers are optional. However, if you really feel that you are more comfortable with that type of review strategy, then go for it! Most importantly, you have to demonstrate preparedness to what I call your PIES—physical, intellectual, emotional, and spiritual aspects of your present status. If you don’t feel like taking the RN license exam just yet; maybe because of an emotional upheaval or a physical condition of some sort, don’t be afraid to postpone it. You have to create balance within these four major factors of readiness in order for you to proceed in your NLE prep smooth and sound.

D-art your target

One thing I learned in Philosophy is that “an action is always driven by a motive”. It might help to remember this equation: MOTIVE=TARGET and that TARGET=PASSING THE NLE. You have to set your goals for they will act as your ‘blueprints’ to your success. We all have our personal reasons in taking and PASSING the NLE. Whatever it is, if it keeps the drive in you, well then GO!

E-limination

As our body takes away all the unnecessary entities in it for it to function more effectively, I think it would be reasonable enough to incorporate that ‘dogma’ within your review or NLE preparation period. Eliminate everything that might cause distraction.

‘X’ (previous) notes are worth your glimpse!

The NLE is fast approaching and you want to stop reading or reviewing. Oops, not so fast. If you still have ample time, try to go over your old notes. You might want to welcome the possibility that, maybe, the topics in there might show up. Never lose a chance!

A-ddress check!

It’s a week before your RN license exam. Do your own survey of your testing site in order to know your room number. Search the easiest route, prominent landmarks and establishments around. That will surely help!

M-ilk before you sleep.

If you have difficulty sleeping, try drinking a warm glass of milk before going to bed. Nothing beats having a complete eight (or make it ten) hours of sleep. Enjoy your slumber for the biggest day of your Nursing Life!

THANK YOU TO THE AUTHOR WHO WROTE THAT TIPS..IT’S EFFECTIVE! 🙂

To add more about my adventure,

A DAY before the big day…

We were also allowed to visit the rooms where we were assigned to take the exam..

It was 3am early in the  morning when my bed-mate Pearl woke me up because the big day has arrived..

Our group decided to pray first after eating our breakfast. As what I have shared with you in my In-house review (Part 2) Prayer is the first key to pass the exam.

IN-HOUSE REVIEW (Part 2)

Posted in Nursing Adventure with tags , , , , , , , , , on October 29, 2012 by nursemihoko

My mom always told me to ask for the divine intervention and guidance from God. I remember one time when I don’t feel like going to church, she said that I can’t go anywhere nor can get my goals in life if I don’t know how to sacrifice even just an hour for God.

Maybe you guys are curious now of what’s the connection with my introduction to my review right?

Well, it’s simple…

She’s right (my mom). PRAYER is the first key to pass the exam. Preparation like studying is next.

Those times when I was so nervous, worried and not sure of what to answer… prayers saved me.  The exam was really hard. There were items in the test that really brought me into nothingness… like WTH is this?! I didn’t meet this during our nursing lectures! Oh my! And so I remember my mom, she said, LOOK UP.. and ASK Him..” Ask and it shall be given”

You may not believe this but, during my review..it’s  like I was the most idiot and has the lowest score in the group. I  always got so many mistakes hahaha.. poor me.. >.<

image

But I never give up.. I tried harder, read more, studied more, and had prayed harder. I never tried to compare my scores to my reviewmates but rather I’ve challenged myself more to be better the next time around and never forget to correct all my mistakes.

image

I went to different churches in Cebu like Carmelites and Basilica del Sto. Ninio.

I would love to share with you my prayer before the exam..

Lord, today I am just really stressed. You know, Lord, that I am having some trouble with the test I am about to take. I know it’s probably not the biggest world problem, with people starving, people turning away from you, people in wars, and more. But, Lord, it’s what I’m facing right now, and I need you at this time. I know that no problem is too big or too small for you to handle, and I need to turn this stress over to you to help me with.

Lord, I just need to be able to focus. I need your help to look at this information so I can remember and apply it well on my exam. I need you to help me feel more confident going into the test and relax a bit so I can concentrate. Lord, please help the people around me to understand that I need to focus and study.

Also, Lord, help me when I walk into the exam. Give me the peace, when it is all said and done, to know that I walked in and did my best. I pray, Lord, for your guiding hand as I take the exam, and I ask for your welcome calm when I walk out of the classroom after.

Lord, thank you for all the blessings you have placed in my life. Thank you for being here at this time when I feel a bit overwhelmed. Thank you for always being there and allowing me to rely on you. Praise your name. Amen.

Moreover, I thank my catholic school (USJR-CEBU) and review center (PRN-CEBU) for they had let us visit different churches during my last 3 days of my in-house review..before we will take the licensure exam.

We called it PILGRIMAGE.
